Our guest speaker today was Jenny Muir, soon to be District Governor Elect.
Jenny wanted to explain her plans for the District Conference in her year as DG., particularly as Chalmers has agreed to chair the organizing committee.
Although everyone agreed that the Jersey Conference was a great success, only 225 rotarians out of about 1500 in district attended.
So Jenny is proposing a "one day" conference at a location within district to make it more affordable in terms of time and money.
Friday evening a Civic Reception. Saturday conference 9.30 to 5.00pm, followed by a black tie dinner. Sunday morning a Jazz brunch.
People could then choose to attend on one, two or all three days, travelling to and from or staying at a local hotel.
Jenny's plans were well received by club, but she would not disclose the location of the conference until the plan is approved.
She then went on to talk about women in Rotary.
Jenny suggested that we should recruit more women to our club because they are hardworking, enthusiastic, great team players and bring new ideas with their different
way of thinking.
She suggested we form an action plan to encourage new members and if unsuccessful recruit all the lady members of Wendover Club.
