The combined Rotary Clubs of Chesham, Amersham and Great Missenden held their annual Technology Tournament for local Schools in the Barn Hall, Amersham on Friday 17th May.
Teams from The Beacon School in Amersham, Chesham Grammar School, Chiltern Hills Academy, Holmer Green School, the John Collet School Wendover and the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe competed.
The task was to build a weight-powered vehicle to travel on an inclined track with one charge of the weight, and to pass under a 410mm high bridge, using materials provided.
Many different designs were built, some extremely inventive, and the Beacon School were judged second and third in the junior category, with John Collet being placed first in the junior and senior classes. Chesham Grammar were awarded a special prize for the most inventive design.
Prizes were awarded by Cllr. Mark Shaw, Mayor of Chesham, and local MP Cheryl Gillan attended as a special guest.
