Many Club members today attended the funeral of Past President and Honorary Rotarian Peter Meade, who died early in the morning of Thursday 22nd March 2012.
Peter was the epitome of a gentleman: always courteous, polite, thoughtful for others and solicitous for their needs. He trained as a pilot towards the end of World War II and served in India. After demobilisation he joined Goya, the perfume manufacturers, and was responsible for sales in the North-East of England. Here he met Rose, whom he married in Darlington. They celebrated their Diamond Wedding in early 2011. Eventually Peter was appointed Sales Director and moved to Goya headquarters in Old Amersham.
Peter was a highly committed and very respected Rotarian. He became President of the Rotary Club of Amersham in1981, and around that time was the driving force behind the establishment of a new Rotary Club in Great Missenden
