President's Dinner

President David Cadwallader gave an enthralling speech after our President’s Dinner at the Harewood Downs Golf Club.

He thanked Phil Roberts for co hosting the meetings this year (one spade), conferred the roles of incoming President and President Elect to Derek Bryant and Jane Mackay (two passes), and handed out two Paul Harris Fellowships to Tim Hunt and Nick Crabtree (two diamonds).

He further thanked all active members of the club who had contributed to raising money for our charities and enhanced the social fabric of our club (three hearts).

Reading from his three pages of notes, he also praised all the members’ wives who had given such wonderful support throughout the year, without once mentioning politics (three no Trumps).

A great evening was had by all, despite the hot weather. Members were grateful for the possibility of wearing less formal attire and for the air conditioning provided by the Golf Club.
