Friday 20th March saw the return of our ever popular Jazz Night. Over 100 jazz fans were entertained by East Anglia's premier jazz band, Dixie Mix, with all proceeds going to help the Rotary Club with it's charitable work. It was their 25th concert at Queen's Hall Watton, and as usual they didn't disappoint.
Led by the irrepressible Simon Nelson on trumpet and vocals, the band included one or two new faces, but there was no lessening of the Dixie Mix brand of humour and music throughout the evening. Playing a mixture of well known tunes and some less so, they included numbers from the likes of Duke Ellington, Kenny Ball and Chris Barber.
During the interval the audience were fed with our traditional ham or cheese rolls (the band even have a song about it!) with fresh fruit to follow. The bar was also open for the duration of the show.
The evening raised around £450, which will be used by the Rotary Club for charitable purposes, both locally and further afield.
