Every year the Rotary Club recognises outstanding service to the people of Watton and surrounding area by presenting two trophies, a Group Community Award and an Individual Community Award.
This year we have been delighted to present the individual Community Award to Roy Ivory for his selfless dedication to serving the people of Watton over many years.
Roy has assisted several local organisations, including the Rotary Club and others such as Wayland Players, Watton Society, Watton Festival and others in providing Lights and Sound facilities, particularly at Queens Hall, Watton for many years. When he was unable to assist at our Jazz evening earlier this year due to poor health, Roy sent his son Joe to help us instead.
The presentation to Roy was made at a recent meeting, when he was accompanied by his wife Yvonne and son Joe. In accepting the award, Roy reminded us that his involvement as a friend of Rotary goes back more than 20 years, when he and Martin Anscombe worked together to create and set up the Christmas lights in Watton High Street.
Our President Francis Ulrych was delighted to present the Award to Roy in recognition of his long years of service to the people of Watton.
