Every year we honour local community heroes by presenting two awards, a Group Award and an Individual Award.
This year we were delighted to present the Group Community Award to Watton's Town Fireworks Committee. The presentation was made at our last meeting in October, coincidentally just a few days after this years Firework Display.
The committee do an enormous amount of work each year to make this annual free event happen. The Display is seen as an inclusive event that benefits a wide range of ages, families and groups within the town and local area. Many attendees considered this year's display one of the best ever.
We were very pleased to welcome the Vice Chair of Watton Council Gillian Turrant, who attended our meeting to receive the award from Rotary Club President Francis Ulrych on behalf of the Town Fireworks Committee. She was accompanied by her husband Steve.
In accepting the trophy Gillian thanked the Rotary Club for supporting the Fireworks display every year by providing marshalls and also helping to collect voluntary donations towards the cost of the event.
