At a recent meeting, the Rotary Club were delighted to present a cheque to Su Buckle, representing residents of Shipdham who are seeking to improve a derelict patch of land. Shipdham Parish Council recently purchased the plot of land near some new and old houses and sheltered homes in the village, to prevent it being misused.
The residents of adjacent houses then asked the Parish Council if they could have the land for gardens and recreation. This request was granted but there were no funds available to support the project. The residents want to provide picnic benches etc and plant flowering cherry trees to make this a pleasant area which can be enjoyed by all the Community.
Appeals for donations were made, and the Rotary Club were pleased to donate £200 towards the costs of this project. Our donation and others have enabled18 flowering trees to be planted, garden seating installed, areas dug for flower beds and the purchase of a grass mower.
