We were proud to present our annual Young Citizen Awards at the Summer BBQ on 3rd September 2023. Every year we look for exceptional young people making a difference to their community, and reward them by showcasing their good citizenship and rewarding them with a certificate, trophy and gift voucher.
This year's winners were:
Tilly Winchester, who was nominated by Kris Crittenden, formerly Officer Commanding Watton RAF Cadets for her exceptional work within the cadets and further afield. Despite only joining the Air Cadets 2 years ago she has already reached the rank of Sergeant.
Adam Oliver was nominated by Aidan Hall of the Watton Army Cadets for his great work within the cadets, as well as working with his parents to deliver food parcels to elderly and vulnerable people in Swaffham people during the pandemic, and for his great bravery in assisting at a serious road accident.
Daisy Draycott, nominated by Jayne Eastwood on behalf of 1st Watton Guides and Watton Rangers, because she has overcome a number of health issues to become a very important member of the guides, particularly in supporting others with emotional problems.
The awards were introduced by Rotarian Mike Gicquel, our Immediate Past President, and presented by our President Shaun Yeoman. The Awards have been named the Peter Cowling Young Citizen Awards, in memory of a much loved Past President of the Rotary Club, who sadly passed away a few years ago. His widow, Leley Cowling, sponsored the Awards this year.
