Watton Rotary Club have again assisted the Norfolk Crucial Crew event held at Letton Hall Shipdham in March 2023. Norfolk Crucial Crew is a multi-agency event led by Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service, engaging with year 6 students (age 10-11) across the county delivering safety messages in a fun and interactive way.
This free programme involves the Fire Service working alongside partners including Norfolk Constabulary, NHS, St John's Ambulance, HM Coastguard, among others.
Crucial Crew has 4 main aims:
Encourage responsible / reflective action in children
Sensitise children to potential emergency and / or dangerous situations.
Develop social awareness and care for the social environment and others
Raise awareness of offending behaviour.
The Rotary Club supported the event by providing volunteers to guide groups of children around the venue, ensuring they all get to the right room at the right time.
During the course of our day at Letton Hall, we were also pleased to present Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service with a cheque for £200 towards the costs of putting on Crucial Crew events at various locations around Norfolk.
