Awards evening

At our awards evening tonight, held via Zoom we were delighted to announce our Young Citizen awards for 2021 and also the winners of our Young Environmentalist competition at Wayland Academy. The Young Citizen Awards have been named the Peter Cowling Young Citizen Awards in memory of our Past President, who passed away last year. We were joined by District Youth Chair Robin Wraight and Peter's widow Lesley Cowling, who has sponsored the Young Citizen Awards. Also present were Pilot Officer Kris Krittenden, Officer Commanding the Watton air Cadet Squadron, who had nominated one of the awards, and award recipient Grace Lawlor. We were also joined by Tia Sayer, one of the participants in the Young Environmentalist competition.

In all, 3 Young Citizen Awards were announced, the recipients being James Naylor, Grace Lawlor and Eduarda Mucavele. The Awards will be physically handed over by our President Mike Haythorpe at Loch Neaton next week.

We also announced the winners of our Young Environmentalist competition at Wayland Academy. For this competition entrants had to design a poster about the threats posed by Climate Change. The winner was our youngest competitor, Toby Bennett of Year 7, and runner up Angel Pircalabescu from Year 9.
