15 members attended this evening's meeting, held via Zoom. Our special guest speaker was Derek Rothwell, the District Foundation chair.
Foundation is Rotary's own charity and since its inception over 100 years ago, the charity has made donations exceeding £4 billion.
Derek updated us with recent developments with Global Grants, Global Scholars, citations and the End Polio Now campaign, which recently celebrated the fact that the continent of Africa is now free of the wild polio virus, which is now endemic in only two countries in the world.
It was a wide-ranging talk, covering the many strands of Foundation, and a lively question and answer session ensued. Derek was warmly thanked for taking the time to join our meeting this week.
