Club Committee

Mon, Aug 3rd 2020 at 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Nine members attended tonight's meeting with 3 apologies.

Our agenda this evening included a discussion about the prospect of returning to face to face meetings at our normal venue; the provision of a wreath for Rememberance Sunday; and Martin A's rose initiative. A member had asked whether Mike H should stay on as President for a further year in view of the challenges presented by Covid 19 this year. However neither our current President nor President Elect were in favour of this idea so the committee decided against it.

Dictionaries were delivered to primary schools before the end of the school year, and a useful Zoom meeting had recently been held with one of the teachers at Wayland Academy, which had left us feeling positive about our competitions there next year.

Of our forthcoming social events, Charter Night scheduled for 16th October now seems unlikely to go ahead, and will be moved to a date later in the year. A Treasure Hunt and afternoon tea planned for later this month is almost fully booked.

Some ideas for fundraising were discussed, including an online quiz suggested by Mike G and a Rotary version of e-bay devised by Martin A. More about these next month.
