At tonight's committee meeting our agenda included items about a long service certificate to be awarded to a member of 45 years standing, and when we may be able to return to Broom Hall for our meetings.
Martin A reported on his initiative to 'resurrect' the Rotary rose. In 2004 a rose named 'Rotary Sunrise' was launched at a garden centre in Knutsford, to mark the garden centre owner, Frank Fryers 50th anniversary as a Rotarian. Martin has come up with the excellent idea of re-launching and promoting that rose to mark the new dawn as Rotary and the world recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic. A partnership has been formed with Peter Beales roses to distribute the rose. The project is at an early stage yet, but could be a major fundraiser in the future.
Anther idea discussed was Paul C's suggestion of a grant to local clubs to help with hire of halls etc as they try to get going again post-lockdown. A budget was agreed, an application form will be developed and an advert placed in Wayland News.
