On April 25th the Rotary Club organised a litter pick around Watton Town Centre. We were ably assisted by members of Watton Air Cadets, Army cadets and also Shipdham Spitfires Scout group. Our equipment was kindly provided by Breckland Council.
After a briefing by event organiser Paul Weatherill, we set off from St Mary's Church along a route that included Church Walk, Harvey Street and the High Street which was very busy on a Saturday morning.
A large number of sacks were filled with rubbish during our two hour session. Whilst we wouldn't describe Watton's streets as 'litter strewn' we were surprised by how much we found when looking for it! We were encouraged by the many favourable comments and expressions of thanks we received during the morning, and everybody felt it was a very worthwhille undertaking which was much appreciated by local residents.
