Royston Swimathon

The Royston Rotary Swimathon has raised thousands of pounds for local casues since it started in 2006.

The event encourages local organisations (e.g. Church Groups, Schools, Youth clubs, Scout Troups, Guild Troups , Cubs Packs, Browny Packs, Rainbows and others) to enjoy the healthy fun of swimming in order to raise money for their club and/or other good causes.

Half of the money raised goes to the Rotary Club of Royston to support their chosen causes and half goes to the participating teams to support theirs. 

Each team/organisation must submit an entry form (download here) together with a sponsorship form (download here).

On the day, teams should arrive at the Leisure Centre approx half an hour before they are due to swim. They will be notified by email in advance of their alloted swim time. Upon arrival, they should go to reception to register with our receptionists. Once they have changed we will take team photographs (subject to consent). Copies of the photograph will be forwarded to team organisers, together will a commemorative certificate for all team members as a momento of the event.

Teams swim for 55 minutes. They should have a maximium of 6 swimmers with only one person swimming at any one time.

After the event, all sponsorship money is collected and forwarded to the Rotary Club of Royston. The Rotary Club will calculate any Gift Aid available, and distribute half of the money, including any Gift Aid, as requested by the participating team.
