It was a great day of fun and fellowship as well as raising funds when over 65 members from Rotary clubs across Scotland met at Dewars Centre, Perth on Wednesday 18th February for the 16th annual event.
The event is organised by The Rotary Club of Perth and brings Rotarians from across Scotland together to play 4 short 3-end curling games and enjoy some hearty food and refreshments. Of course it is also an opportunity to meet old and new friends and share stories about the projects being undertaken within their own Rotary clubs.
It is also about fund raising and this year the event raised £1,100 for the Matt Murdoch Foundation charity, the Willie Jamieson Curling Fund, both of which support the development of young curlers in Scotland, along with a small contribution to help the local Perth Young Curlers Group.
The winners of the Bonspiel, and the Rotary Jewel, which is presented to the highest up rink with all four curlers being Rotarians from the same Club, was the Rotary Club of Forfar, with the Dumfries Devorgilla Team 2, only a one and a half points behind, as runners up in the overall competition.
It was great to see a large number of Rotarians continuing to support the Charity Bonspiel, especially those who had travelled from as far as Oban, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dumfries, and Ayr.
