2025 RYLA Participants

Ryan and Calvin gave a talk to rotarians about their experience on the camp and the benefits of RYLA

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

We were delighted to welcome the two young people, Ryan and Calvin to lunch on 14th August where they spoke well about their experience at the RYLA camp at the Abernethy Outdoor Centre in July.

They both really enjoyed the week taking part in all the, often challenging, team activities.  They talked about the rock climbing, coastering, golf, and water assault course as well as the, what appeared to be, hilarious game of volley ball with the staff, although Ryan ended up having to have his injured fingers checked at Raigmore.  They each led an activity: Ryan the rock climbing and Calvin the golf exercise.  The golf activity was Calvin’s favourite whilst for Ryan it was the running and the football where he scored an amazing goal whilst normally being a goalie.

They each gained confidence.  Ryan said that he felt much more comfortable talking to people he hadn’t met before and we could see that Calvin too was more confident.  Anna Martin, President who was part of the selection process said she could see the difference in both young men in the way they spoke out at the meeting about their RYLA experience.

They met new friends, had fun and would highly recommend the RYLA experience to others.
