Bill McDonald and his wife Sandra represented the club at Prostate Scotland’s annual Burns Night on Thursday 23 January at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh. 400 fund raisers and supporters from across Scotland enjoyed and evening of hospitality and entertainment hosted by that stalwart of Radio Forth, Jay Crawford, himself a survivor of prostate cancer.
Guests were entertained by a range of speakers including Ian Landles, former President Hawick RFC and Professor Alan McNeill, Consultant Urologist and expert on prostate cancer. The event raised over £40,000 on the evening with more coming from pledges.
As readers will be aware Friday 24th January was the day of storm Eowyn and Bill and Sandra had the eerie experience of driving across Edinburgh with not another car on the streets or soul to be seen. Thankfully apart from dodging a few wheelie bins and the odd branch it was an uneventful if somewhat windy drive home.
