The Rotary Club of Perth brought the very popular Charity Fayre back to the City centre after a long break following the COVID pandemic.
The Fayre was held on Saturday 24th August, 2024 along King Edward Street and opened by the Perth and District Pipe Band which paraded along the High Street and King Edward Street. The streets were full, despite the occasional rain shower, and there were plenty of stalls of fun activities and charity awareness-raising.
The Rotary Club of Perth had organised this Fayre on behalf of local charities hosting around 20 free of charge stalls to local charities so that they could increase awareness of their work, recruit volunteers and raise vital funds, often through fun, hands-on activities. There were some dinosaurs roaming from Perth Autism Support, a rowing machine with Tay Rowing Club and lots of information and friendly chat at all of the charity stalls.
The club Rotarians were out in force manning the stalls. There was the return of the popular "Roll the Dice" for an opportunity to “Win a Car”, a Kia Picanto, courtesy of Flear and Thomson. The Rotarians set up and ran the well-stocked tombola stalls, bottle stall and gift stall as well as the nail in the bale game for all the family. There were no losers with everyone getting at least a chocolate bar. There was a huge selection of books, jewellery and scarves to purchase as well as a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. The raffle was a great success with excellent, high value prizes won.
A great day was had by all, the charities and the Rotarians getting the opportunity to chat and work together at this fun event.
