Perthshire Classic Car Tour Raises £20,995 for Charities

The very popular Perthshire Classic Car Tour which took place on Sunday 21^st April, 2024 raised a total of £20,995 for national and local charities.  The tour of 85 cars started at McDiarmid Park in Perth and toured through Aberfeldy to Ballachulish, returning south to Loch Awe and finishing with a fun, awards dinner at Crieff Hydro Hotel. 

The two national nominated charities were MS Society Scotland and Beat (the eating disorders charity), both of which will receive £8,000.  The balance of funds raised will support local charities.

The Perthshire Classic Car Tour organised by the Rotary Club of Perth was sponsored by The John Clark Motor Group.  It was also supported through donations from almost 100 vintage, classic and prestige car owners as well as by local businesses and Rotarians, who advertised in the Car Tour Booklet. 

The national charities received their presentation cheques by the President of the Rotary Club of Perth, Bill McDonald, at the McDiarmid Park stadium on Thursday 13^th June, 2024.  As Beat was unable to attend on the day, a member of the Rotary Club of Perth received the cheque on their behalf.

The funds raised will help to ensure we can keep supporting people across Scotland and the rest of the UK, as well as their loved ones. Eating disorders are complex but we want to reassure people that recovery is possible and support is available.”

Kath Proven, Community Fundraiser for MS Society Scotland said “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the organisers and participants of this year’s Perthshire Classic Car Tour.

“More than 17,000 people in Scotland live with multiple sclerosis (MS). It affects the brain and spinal cord and impacts how people move, think and feel.

“The money raised will help us to continue supporting the MS community today as well as funding research and campaigns that will lead to an improved future for everyone diagnosed with the condition. Being one of the event’s nominated charities has also helped to raise vital awareness of MS and the work we do with our communities here in Scotland.”

“It was a brilliant event.  This was the first time I had entered this tour and it was great to see such a wide variety of cars.  At the start you could see all the cars.  On the road the drive went perfectly. The route was fantastic, though some of the best scenery in Scotland” Overall they both agreed  “it was a fantastic fun event where we met such a nice bunch of people”.

The end of tour dinner was informal and fun and ended with the awards being granted to:
