Oakbank Primary School does RotaKids!

Oakbank Primary School are currently leading the way with the formation of a RotaKids Club in their school!

Here’s a report from Gail McKay, Perth Rotarian, on a recent visit to Oakbank Primary School which proved to be a very informative and uplifting experience.

Attending the School assembly on a Friday morning the aim was to present the RotaKids club with the Perth Rotary members’ £100 donation for their Save the Children fundraising campaign, (plus an additional £15 from friends and family).  The pupils have done an amazing job and raised £592.00 themselves and with our cheque now have £707.00.  They were so delighted to have our donation and many of the staff commented on how much the pupils were delighted with our involvement. The Crazy Hair Day, which was their main fundraising event, was much enjoyed by all and everyone in the school appears to have joined in the fun!

Gail also presented the school with its RotaKids charter and each club member received a wristband.  Since these club members have all been pupils in Primary 7 they will move on next year to secondary school and RotaKids will start all over again with a new membership!  If they are anything like this current group, there be will no stopping them!  We wish the current members well as they take that next step and thank them for their hard work and enthusiasm.

Hairy Highland Coo Trail

Not content with this fundraiser the pupils are now working on another project, The Hairy Highland Coo trail, and this time they are helping to raise money for CHAS.  They are going to be painting a highland coo!

This is a project that is running from the 28th of June to the 6th of September, in conjunction and Perth and Kinross Council and CHAS.  A herd of 30 Highland Coo’s will take over Perth and Kinross, each individually designed and painted by talented artists  along with the local community and Oakbank Primary School have been lucky enough to be invited to take part.
