Perth Rotary Charity Golf is Back
After a gap of 2 years the Rotary Club of Perth’s annual charity golf day returned to King James VI Golf Club with more than 20 teams taking part and raising nearly £6500 for local charities.
Ray Smethurst of King James VI Club said “This competition has been going for over 25 years now and over that period has raised some £150,000 for local charities. We are proud of our partnership with the Rotary Club of Perth in providing a great course and facilities for this event and look forward to continuing our relationship.”
Thanking the Golf Club for generously again hosting the event, Joe Cairns, President of the Rotary Club of Perth said “These last 18 months have been difficult for everyone – the Covid pandemic has cost lives, it has devasted many of our local businesses but in particular it has hit our local charities and voluntary groups very hard. For us at Rotary, we are seeing at first hand, food poverty, mental health issues, a high suicide rate, loneliness – particularly in the young and sadly we expect these issues to be with us for years to come. Never before has the support of local sponsors, businesses and golfers been more important and we thank everyone who made this event a huge success.”
Ewan Bannerman, Golf organiser for the Rotary Club of Perth added “We’re back! It was a great day for local golfers and thanks to all of our sponsors and local businesses who entered teams. It was fun, enjoyable and most importantly, we raised much needed money for local charities.”
