2 charities benefit from the Santa Sleigh collections


Santa’s Sleigh Cheque Presentations. Reporter Robert Freeman Presentation of cheques, being the results of the street collections in December, by March Rotary accompanied March Lions, totalling £600.00 each were given out on Monday 6th the Positive People Care March, at Ye Olde Griffin Hotel, and Wednesday 8th March at Young People March in City Road. Positive People Care help & support people with mental health problems & other long term illnesses. They also support carers who are helping these people. Arrangement are made for taking members out on subsidised coach trips twice a month & holidays all arranged for them 3 times a year. The monies donated that day will assist is supporting the vital work carried out by volunteers The Chair and Founder is Mr. Peter Bennett. who may be contacted on 07375 057809.Or email; Patrick.bennett1@btinternet.com. Mr Bennett is picture receiving the cheques. Wednesday evening 8th March, some members of the Rotary Club of March accompanied March Lions presented cheques totalling £600.0 to Young People March. It is a centre is run with the help of adults and young people who volunteer bringing a range of skills and knowledge from the local community. Ages range from 7 - 25 years. I found the mainly youngsters attending while we were there having a really ‘fun’ time. They were both friendly and polite. A credit to the organisation. When questioned over half of those viewing had seen the Santa’s Sleigh pass along their street. The presentation was made by Ian Groom for the Lions and President Nicholas Kime on behalf of March Rotary Club.
