Fenland Music Concert. 9th July 2016 The rafters echoed to the sound of applause on Saturday evening 9th July at St. Peter’s Church, High St. March. A large audience of young and old alike gathered to enjoy a ‘feast of fine music’ covering three centuries’ performed by the young members of the Fenland Music Centre Association. Promoted by the Rotary Club of March, this annual event goes from strength to strength. With some fifty performers whose ages ranged from under 10 to late teens and some mature performers , we enjoyed both solos and the ‘big’ swing band. This event saw the ‘retirement’ from active direction by the locally well-known Musical Director and Conductor, Alan Norris. Having encouraged youngsters for many years, he felt it was time to pass the baton on. This has gone to Chris Garford, a young man whose appointment was greeted with enthusiasm. Vocalists Anna Dubois and Rose Garford, both gave of their best, while the Special Guests, Burrowmoor Choir augmented a fine rendition of The Lion Sleeps tonight. With too many excellent performances to single out, come and see for yourself next year. It is estimated that circa £800.00 was raised for the Fenland Music Centre
