Young Carers’ Christmas Party and trip to the Panto for Nelson’s Journey
Each year the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn organises a Christmas party for young carers in the King’s Lynn area. On Wednesday 6 December some 50 young carers were entertained by Lia (from Umbrella Parties) and Father Christmas was there to give each of them a present. The sandwiches, sausages, crisps, jellies and cupcakes disappeared in no time. The children all had a wonderful time. The Rotary Club is grateful to Morrison’s for donating chocolate selection boxes and for allowing us to hold a collection, to the West Norfolk Rugby Club for hosting the event and to all those members of the public who make contributions to our supermarket collection.
In addition on Saturday 9 December some 18 bereaved children supported by the charity, Nelson’s Journey, were taken to the Corn Exchange to see Dick Whittington which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children and their helpers.
Donations of food and other items are being taken to the King’s Lynn Night Shelter and the King’s Lynn Food Bank, along with cheques to each charity of £250. The Club intends to provide further donations in the New Year.
