The Friendly Invasion - January 16th 2024
Local historian Clive Stevens, will take us back to the days of 1942 when the United States Army Air Force first arrived in Norfolk & Suffolk to construct and operate countless Military bomber & fighter airfields across the region. Their enormous infrastructure established across the region ranging from airfields, hospitals, ammunition dumps and construction sites was vast leaving an enduring lasting legacy.
By wars end, some three-million American GI Servicemen had passed through the British Isles and nowhere was their impact greater on the local community than the flatlands of East Anglia.
Join us on a whistle-stop journey that labours upon this incredible period of history and reflects upon what still reminds today.
