Diss and District Rotary supports EACH
On 18th July, Past President Peter and current President Bronwen visited the East Anglian Childrens’ Hospice at The Nook in Norwich. This was an Open day for supporters and Peter and Bronwen were shown around the building by Ellie and Anne. The welcome was very warm, and it was explained that the emphasis is on building happy memories.
The Nook is the newest and largest of our three hospices. This purpose-built hospice has seven bedrooms for children and young people, as well as accommodation for families to use for overnight stays. Its facilities include a sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, music studio, a haven, play areas, a teenage room, dedicated therapy rooms and many areas for family support groups, counselling and different activities. It also has a large outside space for children to explore and play.
EACH is heavily reliant on donations as the government only supplies 16% of their needs. Recently Diss and District Rotary donated £1000 to EACH which was half the money raised from the Rotary Easter Egg Appeal. The other £1000 went to End Polio Now.
The photographs show the music studio, the soft play area and the family room with play areas just visible through the window.
