Rotary Club of Cambridge helps Cambridge Aid
Cambridge Aid does great work in support of Cambridge residents in need. In 2019-21 we raised over £12,500 and we continue to support them
Cambridge Aid has been helping local people for 140 years. They offer financial help to individuals and families in need, whilst the referring organisation sponsor may be dealing with the underlying causes of distress. The grants give comfort, provide basic essential needs and help to maintain dignity.
Cambridge Aid has historical links with the Citizens Advice Bureau, and several of the trustees are existing or former voluntary CAB advisers. Others have extensive experience in the health and charitable sectors.
Since 2018, The Rotary Club of Cambridge has donated £12,700 to Cambridge Aid, from events and other fundraising efforts. These include our 2018 & 2019 Children’s Christmas Carol Concerts in Great St Mary’s Church, Quiz Nights, one member’s Plant Sale, and various small donations. Some members are currently giving the money they would normally pay for Rotary Club lunches to this good cause.

We organise two-day breaks at a National Trust site in N Norfolk for young people aged 12-15 who probably won't get any other holiday

Combating AMR was the focus of our 2023-24 President's Charity, Antibiotic Research UK. We raised nearly £6000 in support

Our Junior Competition entrant has gone on to win at National Level. Our Intermediate Team won third prize in their group

Past President John Martin uses his building skills to help the locals create a community centre for this deprived settlement in The Gambia, only a few miles from the luxurious tourist resorts on the coast
