Many members were surprised to hear that the branch is a separate charity, affiliated to the National RSPCA, and receives no government or lottery funding. It has to raise the £1.2 million a year to provide their vital animal welfare services through their own efforts.
The branch is best known for their Animal Rehoming Centre, based in Martlesham, where they care for up to 100 animals at any time; but they also supply support for low-income families to receive subsidised vet care and medication through their welfare clinics in Ipswich, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds, run donation-only microchipping clinics and pop-up pet food banks.
If you are interested in supporting this wonderful charity by considering rehoming a pet, volunteering, donating or getting involved with their fundraising events, they’d love to hear from you.
