Charity Bike Ride for LWPHomes
Club member Robert Davie has completed cycling 640 miles for the Leaders of Worship and Preachers Homes to raise awareness in their 75th year. His route took him to the four sites at Westcliff-on-Sea, Woodhall Spa, Milborne Port and Minehead.
A wet day on April 16 saw Robert leave the first LWPHome at Westcliffe-on-Sea heading for Bury St Edmunds on his way to Kings Lynn, Boston and the second LWPHome at Woodhall Spa. Cycling about 25 miles a day, with several rest days and visits, he reached Woodhall at the end of the month.
A train journey to Scunthorpe enabled Robert to visit Epworth Old Rectory - the birthplace of John and Charles Wesley - for a scheduled visit on early May Bank holiday Monday.
Then came a long haul down to the third site at Milborne Port near Yeovil passing through or around Nottingham, Coventry, Cirencester, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Frome. The aim was to arrive by May 23 for their Gainsborough House Chapel Dedication Service. It was also his 69th birthday. Robert arrived just 2-hours before the service!
The final 'leg' took him to Minehead via Taunton and Robert completed the journey on May 31.

The focus of the ride was to raise awareness of LWPHomes. To date, his supporters have generously donated over £3500 and the page will remain open until December.
