Baldock Rotary were delighted to welcome Nik Pringle of Hertfordshire Police Historical Society to give us a talk an “Murder”.
Nik has been a police officer for many years and was the youngest police coroner in UK and had gained experience years before, while still a schoolboy, taking notes for his father who was also a coroner!
Nik told us the definition of Murder and came with a wealth of historical statistics covering the 180 years of Hertfordshire Police. During this long time there have probably been between 1200 and 1500 murders in Hertfordshire.
As two examples, and Nik has many more, he told us about the circumstances of two murders in the county around 1899.
The good news is that Hertfordshire is a very safe county in which to live.
We could have listened to Nik for much longer but time ran out but, as he has several talks in his repertoire, we will invite him back on another occasion.
Rotarian Carol Britter proposed a vote of thanks and President Paul Brown was pleased to present Nik with a cheque towards the valuable work of the Hertfordshire Police Historical Society.v1
