Burns Night January 2025

Baldock Rotary Annual Burns Night

Baldock Rotary Burns Night 2025

Once again Baldock Rotary Club celebrated Burns Night on January 25th at Baldock Community Centre.

For a while the Community Centre became a small enclave of Scotland as about 50 Rotarians and guests gathered to celebrate the Birthday of the Bard

Once again the Wintringham Pipers, Sarah, Carolyn and Phillip attended to add the sound of bagpipes to the evening.

The traditional meal of haggis, neaps and tatties was cooked by Helen and her colleagues. The haggis was piped into the hall and Phillip then addressed the haggis in the normal manner.

The formal proceedings then followed with the toasts, and a synopsis of the Bards life read by President Gary Byth. Rotarian Gordon Brooks read some poems written by Burns dressed in his kilt.

The evening ended with the pipers filling the hall with Scottish melodies and the singing of Auld Lang Syne by everybody present.

A good evening was had by all.
