Sponsored Walk

A walk to raise funds for Bipolar UK.

The successful group.

On Friday 16th June, 8 students along with two members of staff from the Iveshead School Interact Club, along with Robert and Ngaire from the Shepshed Rotary Club did a sponsored walk through Bradgate Park. 

Bradgate Park was busy with visitors, people having picnics and playing in the water.  We saw lots of deers and ducks but didn't see the peacocks.Our plan was to walk 10 kilometres but somehow we mis-calculated and
ended up doing closer to 11 km!  It was one of the hottest days, walking in 26 C, brilliant sunshine with no shade. We were covered in sunscreen, donning hats and more than relieved to reach the finish line after two hours walking.Plenty of chatting and encouraging each other, water and a visit to the cafe in the middle of the park for icecreams kept us going.Before the walk we discussed who we were raising money for and the students
decided that Bipolar UK would be chosen as this was close to one of our students family. We worked together as a team, we all had fun and enjoyed it and most importantly raised an incredible amount of £600 for Bipolar UK.

Miles attended the Calvert Trust Centre in the Lake District. He had a great time and enjoyed canoeing, sailing, horse riding, rock climbing, abseiling, bushcraft and a high wire course complete with a zip wire!
