The Rotary Club of Rushden proudly hosted a remarkable performance of Handel’s Messiah by the renowned Northampton Bach Choir at St Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers, in early March.
The concert drew an audience of around 150 people, who were treated to an evening of exceptional musical quality. St Mary’s superb acoustics provided the perfect setting for the choir’s magnificent sound under the direction of their Musical Director, Simon Toyne.
The choir’s organist, Tom Moore, Director of Music at St Matthew’s Church in Northampton, delivered a flawless performance, while solo recitatives—performed by choir members—were executed with confidence and clarity.
Audience members gave a rousing and sustained applause following the powerful final Amen Chorus, having earlier risen for the traditional standing rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus.
The Rotary Club of Rushden expressed its deep gratitude to the Northampton Bach Choir for bringing this extraordinary performance to Higham Ferrers. As the choir typically performs only in Northampton, the event marked a special first for the local community.
