INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE
Rotary is International, made up of a worldwide network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, andproblem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary's people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.
Here at the Rotary Club of Rushden, not only do we work to help, support, improve and join in with our local community, but we also look to see how we can help others across the world.
In the last Rotary year (1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024) we raised £1320.00 for WaterAid and £1078.00 for Smile Train as well as collecting 5441 pairs of unwanted spectacles for use inAfrica and beyond where they can be made available topeople who otherwise would have no access to the glasses which we take for granted
This new Rotary Year (1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025) has already begun in earnest with a Musical Celebration held at the Salvation Army premises in Rushden on 6 July which raised £538.00. The Rotary Club of Rushden has donated additional funding which means that the proceeds of the evening will now fund a Shelter Box which is an essential part of Rotary's international response to any crisis in all parts of the world.
This Rotary year sees us hoping to support ActionAid, supporting women and children affected by poverty in 45 countries, and Mary's Meals which serves nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world's poorest communities. We will also look to react to other needs as they surface.
None of this could happen without the undoubted energy and enthusiasm of our International Committee and I would like to pay tribute to last year’s Committee members and welcome some new members who, as you will have seen above, are already in action!
