The Comedy Wheel - fundraiser at Sharnbrook Theatre

The Rotary Club of Rushden took a light-hearted turn this September with a major charity comedy event that delighted an evening packed with laughter, entertainment and community spirit.

The acclaimed Comedy Wheel rolled into Sharnbrook Mill Theatre, bringing together four outstanding comedians from the UK professional comedy circuit for a one-night-only fundraising extravaganza. The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Rushden as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting charitable causes both locally and internationally.

Known for organising projects that make a meaningful difference in the community, the Rotary Club proved that creating a lasting impact can also involve plenty of fun. The Comedy Wheel offered the audience the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional live comedy experience while supporting Rotary charitable initiatives.

The evening was expertly hosted by Matt Richardson, one of the UK's most recognisable comedy personalities. Known for his infectious energy, quick wit and engaging stage presence, Matt certainly warmed up the packed audience with some superb observational humour, poking harmless fun at the Rotarian Image! His natural ability to connect with audiences made him the ideal master of ceremonies for the night!!

Opening the show was Steve Hall, a highly respected comedian and writer renowned for his intelligent, inventive humour and sharp writing and is a firm favourite on the UK comedy circuit. His razor sharp humour had the audience in stitches!

The middle act featured Fiona Allen, best known for her work on the Emmy Award-winning comedy series Smack the Pony, and with television credits including EastEnders, Shameless and Coronation Street, Fiona brought a warm, relatable storytelling style that delivered big laughs to the audience.

Headlining the evening was Mike Gunn, one of Britain's most distinctive stand-up performers who is celebrated for his dark, deadpan delivery and he didn’t disappoint having the audience in side-splitting mode!!

Proceeds of almost £900 from the event supported the Rotary Foundation, Rotary youth projects, local charitable initiatives and helping Rotary to continue its work in improving lives both at home and around the world.
