Celebrating 100 Years of Rotary in Northampton
We are marking the arrival of Rotary in Northampton with a Showcase event on 5th March. This will take place at the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club’s Speckled Hen Lounge and will be open to the public from 12noon to around 7.30pm.
The clubs and Rotaract are working together with Northampton Town Council and indirectly with West Northamptonshire Council, in promoting the event through advertising and signage that will go out in February. A range of charities supported by Rotary currently will have stands within the lounge at which they can promote their services to the community. Each Rotary club has specifically invited charities with which it has close association, or where there is multiple support given, these have been approached on behalf of the joint organising committee. Northampton West’s invitees are:
Cerebral Palsy Northampton, HomeStart Northampton, Northampton Sailability, The Lowdown Northampton, NMPAT and The Nenescape Partnership.
NMPAT will provide music from around 2.00 to 4.30pm featuring four or 5 groups of musicians covering a variety styles that the charity provides train facilities for. Seating will be provided for a small audience who wish to specifically focus upon their performance
In addition to the charities the venue will provide a range of ‘street’ foods from stands just outside the lounge itself that should be available for most of the day and the NCCC’s bar facility will be open. Both of these will require purchases from the vendors.
Although the event will be free, we are asking all attendees to register in advance through the website Eventbrite. Tickets can be down loaded from:
www.rotary100notout.eventbrite.co.uk
,or through the QR code that appears to the event poster.
Finally, Rotaract are staging a fund-raising ‘Static Cycle Ride’ in aid of the Cynthia Spenser Hospice from noon until around 5.00pm. This will be the only fund-raising taking place on the day as the emphasis is on making this a family-friendly occasion with aim of raising Rotary’s level of public awareness.

Saturday 5th March 2022
Speckled Hen Lounge, County Ground, Northampton
Rotary is celebrating 100 years of service in Northampton. Since 1921, we have been working with our local community to help those less fortunate than ourselves and to enhance the environment in which we live.
On Saturday 5th March 2022, we are holding a festival, in conjunction with Northampton Town Council, to showcase the work we and partner organisations have done. There will be food stalls, music from NMPAT and local bands, and we hope to host the presentation of the Rose of Northamptonshire Awards and/or the Heart of Northampton Awards. Rotaract will be running a static bike challenge. The aim is to attract large numbers of the Northampton public and show them just what we are doing for the community.
We are offering space for organisations with whom we have worked to demonstrate the work they do, and this is an opportunity for them to showcase their activities and recruit members and volunteers to help them. There is a limited number of spaces available, and we are approaching you now to see if you would be interested in this opportunity to raise your local profile. There is no cost involved.
Come and join us and celebrate 100 years of service above self.
