Northampton West Rotary Club Funds Bursaries for South African Teachers.
This year we are pleased to be supporting the Knysna Education Trust in South Africa.
The Knysna Education Trust (KET) is a registered Non-profit organisation that provides quality services to the young children of the Knysna communities. It is the only organisation in the area to focus exclusively on Early Childhood Education, and has significant experience working alongside and supporting the principals and teachers at the affiliated preschools.
KET has previously worked closely with The Rotary Club of Knysna, and has an excellent history of delivering on projects with maximum effect to the beneficiaries they serve. KET focuses particularly on ensuring children leave preschool ready and able to excel at formal schooling, and and they also facilitate and support the transformation of informal child care centres, to registered Early Child Development centres with well trained teachers.
In choosing KET as a charity to support we considered not only the work they were already undertaking but also how we could invest in the future from their website it can be seen there are many ways in which they can be supported and we decided that funding a Bursary would meet our objectives.
We were pleased to forge a link with the The Rotary Club of Knysna, and this link has enabled us to obtain a District Grant from our District Rotary District 1070 With this grant we have been able to fund two bursaries for the training of teachers.
We look forward to continuing this project and following the progress of the students selected.
