District Governor, Geoff Blurton, came to the Club lunch on Monday and presented a Paul Harris Fellowship badg
e
with Sapphire to Past District Governor, Rtn Andrew Cowling, in
recognition of his many years of service to the Rotary Youth Leadership
Award programme for District 1070.
This course
at Grafham Water is considered to be the finest of its type in ‘Rotary
In Britain & Ireland’, and is designed on a basis of team
competition with each day building on the knowledge and experience
gained in the previous days. Andrew has acted as Rotarian in Residence,
helping to develop the leadership skills of hundreds of young people
over the years.
These
courses are designed for young adults aged 18 to 26 who show the
potential and inclination to give leadership to youth, through voluntary
and/or vocational activities. It is a personal development 8 day
seminar (7 nights) of activities including water sports, practical
initiative tests, development of interpersonal skills, camping, map
reading and problem solving. They are also able to compete in a
computer-based business game to help with business management skills.
