The Club made a donation towards the recovery programme instigated by Rotarians at the Melton Mowbray Club and have received the following update message
"To all supporters of the project in the Philippines following the Tacloban typhoon Haiyan.
Good evening.
I thought it time I wrote to give you a brief update on the progress of our project to help the survivors of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
As a result of the two recent visits by members of the Melton Rotary Club we are concentrating our efforts on renovating a school near Tacloban which was devastated by the typhoon and the storm surge. We were pointed to this by their (now) DGE Buddy Estudillo.
The project covers reroofing, any ancillary building and decorating work, electricity supply (solar panels), books and other equipment, and draining the play area/running track to remove the mosquito breeding ground. We expect to be building well before year end.
