"Young Musician" Semi-final
YOUNG MUSICIAN - DISTRICT 1070
SOUTHERN SEMI FINAL.
Sunday 26th February 2012
Pat and I attended the above event, which was held this year at the St Ivo School, St Ives.
This proved to be a good venue, and the audience were rewarded with some outstanding performances. There were twenty-eight entrants in total.
At our Northampton round, our independent adjudicator nominated those who should proceed to the Semi-Final. Our club sponsored:-
| Catherine Eden | Junior instrumental soloist playing the trombone |
| Andrew King | Intermediate instrumental soloist playing the piano |
| Lauren Jones | Intermediate vocal soloist |
| Zoe Lumsden | Senior Instumental soloist playing the clarinet |
| Emma Gault | Senior vocal solois |
All the above were in competition with entrants from other Clubs in District 1070, and Lauren, and Zoe both won through to the District Final at Melton Mowbray on 11th March.
Andrew King played in the most competitive section. There were 7 performers that the adjudicator indicated were of a very high standard for their age.
We also sponsored The Northampton High School Quintet, an entry in the Senior Instrumental Group. There was no other entry in this section, but the Quintet will go forward to the District Final having received exceedingly high praise from the adjudicator for all aspects of their performance.
It was a very enjoyable occassion.
