End Polio Now

The three Rotary clubs in Melton Mowbray combined forces on World Polio Day to plant 10,000 crocus corms on the grass embankment by the road leading to the station.  We look forward to a splendid showing of purple flowers in early Spring.

International's End Polio Now campaign is a global humanitarian initiative launched in 1985 to permanently eradicate polio across the world.  Purple crocuses are planted for display in the early Spring each year, to symbolise the purple dye put on children's little finger, generally in less developed countries, once they've had their polio vaccination.
