Information on the work of the RC of Melton Mowbray with Rotary Clubs in the Philippines.

The Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray has become closely involved with Rotary clubs in the central Philippines, supporting education, health, and livelihood in the central region known as the Visayas.

With the support of Rotary Foundation, who have just awarded our third matching grants for our projects, we are supporting Rotary Clubs in the Philippines in a variety of projects.

We support the work of two Rotary Clubs in the region:

·         The Rotary Club of Tagbilaran.  Tagbilaran is the capital of Bohol, one of the larger Philippine islands with a population of about 1 million.  It is almost entirely rural.

·         The Rotary Club of Cebu Capitol North.  Cebu is the second city of the Philippines, the capital city of the Visayas region, and a major port.  It is the main city on Cebu Island, again a predominately rural, and quite mountainous island.

Not only do we have frequent contact with the clubs and the District officers in the area, the Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray has visited the Philippines for two weeks.  A group of 13 combined a sightseeing and leisure trip with visiting the projects the club is supporting and meeting three of the Rotary clubs in the area.  Past President John Dehnel has visited the clubs and the projects on two other occasions, and we anticipate further visits by various members of our club.Read the full article and see the pictures at www.meltonrotary.org.uk
