Allotment for Storehouse

Birchwood School join food for Storehouse project

Over the past couple of years, Rotarian Pankaj Gulab has been restoring one of the allotments in the Country Park and started a vegetable plot. Some help has been given, mainly in the way of spare hard materials, by other members of the Rotary Club. Produce from the plot is being donated to Melton's food bank, Storehouse. Recently some volunteers from among Storehouse's customers have joined Pankaj in extending the number of plots to provide more provisions for Storehouse. Pictures from the past few weeks are shown.

Students and staff from Birchwood Vale school have now joined this project.  On the last Friday in October 2026, 6 students and 3 staff were involved, preparing and planting up beds of vegetables for harvest next year.. The students all have significant needs.  Pankaj is careful to give them time to do things and pick up instructions. They seemed to have appreciated the opportunity to be involved.  The school hopes to use Tuesday and Friday mornings for a total of 10 students in two groups. We hope the the school continues to be involved.
