A brief note from our President Aly Bruce.

President Aly Bruce

I’m tremendously honoured and excited to be the President of the Rotary Club of Orkney for this year. I’m confident that the team behind me will help make the year both a successful and happy one. Orkney is an incredible place to live and work in, and the community here is one of the most generous that you’ll ever come across. We’re so lucky to have their support for the many projects that we undertake, both the annual events and the many fundraisers that are planned.

The call this year is to create hope in the world by working for peace and mental wellbeing, and I hope that we can help make a difference by doing both. There are so many people affected by conflict that need help while we enjoy peace in Orkney, but mental wellbeing is very close to home, and I hope that we can do our bit to support the work of the many mental health charities.

To do that we would be delighted to have more members in the club. To anyone considering joining I would say do it sooner rather than later. I have found it incredibly enjoyable and rewarding, and would recommend it to everyone. I now have an enlarged circle of friends who have enriched my life greatly.

Wishing you all a great Rotary year for 2023/2024!

Robbie Fraser
