Young Artist 2025
The culmination of the Ashby de la Zouch Rotary Young Artist competition was celebrated at Conkers on the 14th March where pupils from Ashby Schools had submitted many hundreds of paintings and artwork and a uniquely decortaed plant pot.
The theme of the competition was "Wonderful Water" and children interpreted this theme in many ways. The children's work was submitted to our local judge Nick Howden who remarked that he was looking for texture, creativity and individuality of thought in the sumitted work. Nick chose the work of Bailry from Lewis Charlton School as the overall winner and who came from the intermediate category of entrants.
Entrants were junior across ages 8-11 , intermediate from 12-14 and thereafter senior.
Winners in each school were from Measham C of E Ivy Penn, from Measham St Charles, Joseph Norris, from Packington Joss Storer who was also judged the best individual Junior young artist. From Willesley Samuel Gallagher, from Woodcote, Lennie Warren, From Ashby School, Lisbeth Davies, from Worthington, Ethan, from Viscount Beaumont, Felix Bee, from Moira, Harry Rodgers, form Oakthorpe, Jimmy Baker and our overall Winner Bailey who came from Lewis Charlton and was also our best intermediate young artist with his painting "Waterfall".
Our thanks go to sponsors Conkers for hosting and providing the prizes for the event and to Nick Howden who had the difficult job of selecting the winners.
