A Christmas Tree of Food

Interact and Rotary work together again

The Interact group at Old Swinford Hospital school planned support for the Black Country Food Bank as the focus of their Autumn fundraiser this term.  An appeal for items of food from a list supplied by the Food Bank was shared throughout the school with a ‘Christmas Tree’ of goods being built as the donations came in.

Stourbridge Rotary Club offered support by inviting member’s food donations which have been added to the ‘tree’ and by offering to match-fund the sum raised by a “Wear Something Christmassy” day on Friday, 2 December, when the food donations will be  sent to the Food Bank.

The photographs illustrate the extent of the generous response to this appeal, a ‘Christmas Tree’ to rival any when measured by the attraction of the display or the heartfelt message of goodwill it represents.  Full marks to our Stourbridge Interact Club members and all who have contributed.  Stourbridge Rotary acknowledge the immense contribution made by Wendy Apperley by her energy-filled support and enthusiasm in the guidance she provides to the Interactors.

Jen Coleman, Chief Executive Officer of the Black Country Food Bank met with Wendy, and Rotary Club President Vida Worsey to formally acknowledge the generous donations of the students and others at OSH.  Jen said, ” …….. thanks for all that you have done, just brilliant!  I have spoken to our warehouse manager and he is fine to collect the donations from the display on Friday.  Once it is all weighed we will send you a certificate.  Thanks again, the support from OSH and Rotary is just fantastic.”   Jen
