As part of #NationalTreeWeek 2024 we planted an Acer Planatoides Crimson King to celebrate #Rotary’s ongoing determination to eradicate #Polio from the world. The location is in Malvern Park, #Solihull (what three words: ///bats.view.hood). This is the location where we planted 1,000 Crocus corms to mark #worldpolioday2024 on 24th October.
The tree comes into leaf in the spring with purple leaves which get darker into the summer. In the Autumn the leaves turn a rich golden brown before falling.
Seen in the photo is President Leon Green, Rtn Gaynor Green, Rtn David Newman and Rtn Robert Blyth.
We were accompanied by Cllr. Ken Hawkins who is the cabinet member responsible for parks and tree planting. We were grateful for the help of Jo, Shameena, Barry and Adrian from the Parks Department.
