our meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Monday 12th December was for members to share their hobbies or collections.
The subject ranged from African carvings and jewellery to Omega watches,
One member brought examples of die casting of lead soldiers and chess pieces and Christmas tree ornaments. He has been doing this for the best part of 70 years. Many different regiments including Napoleonic French and English troops. All painted to authentic colours.
Another brought a collection of crests and coats of arms. He wasn't able to bring his collections of Sylvac Rabbits or Richard Gyatt commemorative Wedgewood mugs
One member told of his collection of classic cars including his first car an Austin 7. He went on to describe his hobby of playing football and how he is an England international in the "walking football team"
Another member showed a number of his original French paintings
Others talked of stamp, coin and record collections
it was a very enjoyable and informative evening.
